Growing Healthy Kids
When life gets busy, it can be hard to focus on what you are feeding your dear ones. We agree that ALL parents want their kids to grow up strong and healthy! Still, the question remains, how can we encourage our kids to eat more fruits and veggies? While they’re still small, we strive to nurture their taste buds into becoming coinsures of all kinds of fruits and vegetables. Sometimes we win this battle, and sometimes we don’t get so lucky! Always keep in mind: One healthy habit at a time!
Some parents will continue to reintroduce, while others will attempt to hide or sneak in veggies with a favorite meal. Many parents will plan a meal or snack time around those coveted veggies that are kid-approved in their family.
Here are some successful strategies that have worked with even the pickiest eaters:
- One of our favorite approaches is to encourage our little budding tastebuds to have some fun with their veggies! It’s the perfect time to play with your food! (And why shouldn’t we play with our food?!) You can present the snack in a fun edible way, or have your little ones build a veggie craft masterpiece.
- Get the family involved in meal prep & include veggies in their favourite foods, like tacos, pizza, and pasta dishes.
- Snacking with veggies is the perfect time to play with your food! You can present the snack in a fun edible way, or have your little ones build a veggie masterpiece. Another way is incorporating some fun food-friendly elements like StickyLickits to create your own funny veg faces…
With a little bit of creativity and planning, your kids will be on their way to eating healthier in no time at all!
