Red Sun Farms Joins ACF Culinary Team USA as Newest Team Partner
The American Culinary Federation (ACF) is pleased to announce that Red Sun Farms is the latest organization to pledge its support to ACF Culinary Team USA, the official representative for the United States in major international culinary competitions. "We are grateful that Red Sun Farms has joined our team of sponsors who make it possible for ACF Culinary Team USA to display America’s cuisine to the world," said Joseph Leonardi, CEC, ACF Culinary Team USA manager. "Now, with the help of our generous sponsor, we are on the road to bringing home gold at the 2015 American Culinary Classic in Orlando, Florida, with a menu that will include greenhouse vegetables." "We are honored to be the exclusive greenhouse vegetable supplier for ACF Culinary Team USA," said Jim DiMenna, president/CEO, Red Sun Farms. "The establishment of our first US-based greenhouse and other US-based corporate investments led to partnering with ACF Culinary Team USA. Our common characteristics of passion and commitment to excellence make Red Sun Farms and ACF Culinary Team USA an ideal match. Our growers, like ACF Culinary Team USA, represent a skill level that defines ‘where craftsmanship ends and artistry begins’. We look forward to supporting a world class team of chefs with world-class, innovative and healthy greenhouse-grown vegetables." Red Sun Farms’ mission is to grow and promote true greenhouse vegetables that exceed the customer’s safety and quality expectations and to provide continuous benefits to all consumers, communities and stakeholders. Red Sun Farms owns three state of the art greenhouse facilities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, where both conventional and organic tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers are grown. About ACF Culinary Team USA Since 1982, a national chef team has represented the U.S. and the American Culinary Federation at the Culinary World Cup. In 1986, 1990 and 1994, ACF Culinary Team USA won the international competition and was the first team to receive three consecutive wins. In 2006, the team won two gold medals and placed fifth. ACF Culinary Team USA returned to the winners circle in 2010 with two gold medals and a third-place finish. The chef team recently returned from Luxembourg where they again won two gold medals and placed third in the world at the Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup 2014. U.S. chefs have been competing internationally since 1956, starting with the Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung (IKA), also known as the "culinary Olympics," held every four years in Erfurt, Germany. The team also participates in such competitions as the American Culinary Classic and Salon Culinaire Mondial, which is held every six years in Basel, Switzerland.
