Twists on Family Favorites for Thanksgiving Dinner

Twists on Family Favorites for Thanksgiving Dinner

As you’re beginning to prepare for Thanksgiving dinner, you might want to consider adding a twist to the traditional meal you’ve enjoyed for decades. If you’re looking for something a little healthier for your family, we have some ideas to share that you’ll love. Instead of planning the same turkey and cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie, change it up a bit. Your guests will appreciate a little of the traditional as well as a few new dishes this Thanksgiving!

Everyone loves green bean casserole at Thanksgiving, of course. Try a couple of different twists on this traditional favorite this year. Green Beans with Shallots and Red Pepper add a little bit of bright color and an extra zing to the dinner plate. Fresh Red Sun Farms sweet bell peppers make this dish a hit!

Another great version of the traditional green bean casserole is Green Beans with Goat Cheese, Tomatoes, and Almonds, made with haricot verts (tiny green beans), almonds, fresh cherry tomatoes, and a log of goat cheese. This twist will soon become a family favorite!

Does your family love ambrosia on Thanksgiving? Surprise them with a delicious dish of New Ambrosia, made with grapefruit, oranges, avocado, and fresh cucumbers. A refreshing Buttermilk-Coconut Dressing brings all of these unique flavors together in a new taste sensation your family will love even more!

Is it stuffing or is it dressing? Whether it goes in the turkey or is served on the side – or both – this year bring this dish to your Thanksgiving table, your family will love our Roasted Red Pepper Stuffing.

Green vegetables are popular on a traditional Thanksgiving table. Asparagus and peas are often included as healthy and tasty sides. Combine them and give them both a little twist in Asparagus, Peas, and Tomatoes with Herb Butter. Fresh asparagus, peas, and grape tomatoes are so much better together, with some chilled and sliced herb butter melting over the warm dish as you serve it.

If your traditional green vegetables are, well, greens, try a new version this year. Garlicky Collard Greens with Confetti Chowchow add even more colors to your holiday table with fresh red and yellow bell peppers. Traditional ham hocks and chicken broth are spiced up a bit with apple cider vinegar and jalapeno chile. These greens are just the right touch for your Thanksgiving table.

Why put out a plain dish of cooked corn when you can serve Cajun Corn Maque Choux! Add color to this dish with Red Sun Farms red, yellow or orange bell peppers along with onion, tomato, and andouille sausage combine for a true twist on a Thanksgiving tradition. It’s just as quick and easy as traditional corn, but much tastier!

We’re always thankful when friends and family get together over a meal. Make this year’s Thanksgiving celebration just a little extra special with a few twists on your family favorites! They are sure to become new favorites very quickly!
